Looking for Alaska is eight-episode miniseries produced by Hulu and available on HBO. It’s based on novel of the same name, written in 2005 by John Green, one of the writers that marked generation with his bestsellers for adolescents like Paper Towns or The Fault in Our Stars. Looking for Alaska was  adapted  in 2019 by Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, the duet that previously created teen drama series like “Gossip Girl,” “The Carrie Diaries,” and Marvel’s “Runaways”.    For an audience that grew up with those shows, “Looking  For  Alaska” creates the perfect wave of nostalgia. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has an almost supernatural talent. The English creator of British tragicomic series such as: Fleabag, Killing Eve, Crashing and Run is not only a writer, director and screenwriter, but also an amazing actress. Fleabag is an adaptation of monodrama that Waller-Bridge wrote and presented at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh in 2013, winning the first prize. BIG LITTLE LIES

Today I’m going to tell you about another series, “Big Little Lies” produced by HBO. 7-episode miniseries, based on Liane Moriarty's bestseller of the same title, was one of the best series in 2017. The show was created by David E. Kelley ("Goliath") and co-executive-produced by Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. In 2019, after a huge success of first season,  HBO offered Kidman and Witherspoon the possibility of filming a second season for which they had not signed (and which they negotiated in their favour, raising salaries to one million per episode), they asked screenwriter if he was interested in repeating the adventure and together  decided to continue the series and shoot second season. THE MANDALORIAN

The trivialization of the Star Wars brand is absolutely unstoppable in the hands of Disney. Their plan to offer a new film every Christmas was an ambitious, but predictable idea made without passion for the whole Star Wars series. During the failure of the trilogy of sequels, people started watching “The Mandalorian”, first Star Wars live-action television series created by John Favreau and  available on  Disney +, streaming platform which unfortunately still isn’t available in Poland. The plot and production aspects were a secret until the premiere of pilot episode, which appeared on Disney+ in November 2019. The first episode in just 38 minutes introduces some important characters and manages to set the plot: after the fall of the Empire and before the appearance of the First Order. It’s the latest project of Luca Guadagnino, director of 'Call me by your name' and ' Suspiria ', in which he explores the sexuality in youth and in adulthood; demonstrating that our identity or what we think we are is something that is constantly changing.   Luca Guadagnino takes up his interest in filming and analysing something as human as the development of identity, desire and attraction. This development has been one of the most interesting aspects of this HBO series.
