Obraz
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has an almost supernatural talent. The English creator of British tragicomic series such as: Fleabag, Killing Eve, Crashing and Run is not only a writer, director and screenwriter, but also an amazing actress. Fleabag is an adaptation of monodrama that Waller-Bridge wrote and presented at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh in 2013, winning the first prize. The series is available on Amazon Prime.   Source: birdmenmagazine.com Fleabag is a story of a thirty-year-old woman who has to learn how to deal with herself and the other characters after the death of her friend Boo (Jenny Rainsford) with whom she ran a cafe in London. BIG LITTLE LIES

Obraz
Today I’m going to tell you about another series, “Big Little Lies” produced by HBO. 7-episode miniseries, based on Liane Moriarty's bestseller of the same title, was one of the best series in 2017. The show was created by David E. Kelley ("Goliath") and co-executive-produced by Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. In 2019, after a huge success of first season,  HBO offered Kidman and Witherspoon the possibility of filming a second season for which they had not signed (and which they negotiated in their favour, raising salaries to one million per episode), they asked screenwriter if he was interested in repeating the adventure and together  decided to continue the series and shoot second season. They also added to the cast another famous actress, Meryl Streep. Source: latimes.com   “Big Little Lies” is a thriller dressed as drama with shades of black comedy. All  episodes are structured around a murder. We don’t know exactly who was killed, but as the show plays out, we s

THE MANDALORIAN

Obraz
The trivialization of the Star Wars brand is absolutely unstoppable in the hands of Disney. Their plan to offer a new film every Christmas was an ambitious, but predictable idea made without passion for the whole Star Wars series. During the failure of the trilogy of sequels, people started watching “The Mandalorian”, first Star Wars live-action television series created by John Favreau and  available on  Disney +, streaming platform which unfortunately still isn’t available in Poland. The plot and production aspects were a secret until the premiere of pilot episode, which appeared on Disney+ in November 2019. The first episode in just 38 minutes introduces some important characters and manages to set the plot: after the fall of the Empire and before the appearance of the First Order. The eight chapters can be understood as eight more or less independent stories, united by a common plot. The whole series is a mixture of spaghetti western in the Star Wars style that despite not risking

WE ARE WHO WE ARE

Obraz
The HBO series We are who we are is an eight-episode youth drama. It’s the latest project of Luca Guadagnino, director of 'Call me by your name' and ' Suspiria ', in which he explores the sexuality in youth and in adulthood; demonstrating that our identity or what we think we are is something that is constantly changing.   Luca Guadagnino takes up his interest in filming and analysing something as human as the development of identity, desire and attraction. This development has been one of the most interesting aspects of this HBO series. Luca is focused on behaviour, personal growth, cinematic visual language and not plot.   Source: irishcinephile.com Fraser (Jack Dylan Grazer), an introverted young man who is traveling with his family from one destination to another, is moving to an American military base in Veneto in Italy due to the promotion that his mother gets in the military corpus. Step by step, Fraser makes new friend, Harper, while discovering who he really is

DARK

Obraz
Dark is a German series produced by Netflix, and in just three seasons has become one of the best science fiction drama in recent years and also one of my favourites non-English series. It’s quite surprising because I don’t speak German and I used to watch only English or Spanish series to improve my grammar and vocabulary. Like said Bong Joon Ho during his Golden Globes acceptance speech for best foreign-language film, ‘‘Once you overcome the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.” So, although I never watch German series, I started watching Dark.   Source: netflix.com The plot starts in near future, in 2019 in small town in Germany, Winden, which seems to be full of secrets and where kids start to disappear. Just like 30 years earlier. The main character, Jonas and his friends are desperate to figure out what happened and find a boy named Mikkel, but this task will be much more difficult than you can imagine. This event will change t
