SHARP OBJECTS
'Sharp Objects' is psychological thriller that consists of eight episodes and is based on Gillian Flynn's (author of Gone Girl) 2006 debut novel of the same name. The miniseries was produced in 2018 by HBO, created by Marti Noxon (producer and screenwriter of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce) and directed by Marc Valleé (Big Little Lies). In the cast we can see an amazing trio of actresses: Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. Clarkson for this role won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and Adams received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.

‘Sharp Objects’ presents a story of troubled journalist Camille Preaker (played masterfully by Amy Adams), who after spending some time in a psychiatric hospital, returns to her small hometown, Wind Gap, to cover the violent murders of two teenage girls, find out dark secrets of small community and face her mother. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to Adora Crellin, her neurotic mother, unable to love her because she was unable to control her, and to Amma, her younger half-sister, that she hardly knows. This reunion with her family and the people with whom she shared her childhood and adolescence won't be an easy task for Camille.

‘Sharp Objects’ became very famous because of its intensity and dramatic twists. It has to be watched with attention because it's constantly going back to the past (with a really remarkable use of montage). Every detail of the past can be significant in the present. In this series everything is disturbing and the world is sad and dark. Every time we think that Camille hit the bottom, there is still something even worse to find out.
One of the best aspects of miniseries is the fact that it was able to condense its story and reduce it to eight chapters, getting to the point from the beginning without boring subplots. Although some minor questions remain unanswered, there are almost no empty and inconsequential moments.
Also fans of rock from the seventies will feel satisfied listening to several songs by Led Zeppelin that Camille uses as a trigger of memories.
